Sign-up surface generates more dead clicks than every other friction signal combined

The element labeled "Sign Up" (and its parent "Join CarGo" card) accounted for 113K dead clicks this week — 99.8% of all dead-click volume on the site. Page load time regressed sharply WoW. Site-wide friction-clicker counts dropped, but only because traffic dropped with them.

One UX bug eclipses every other friction signal on the site.

The "Sign Up" / "Join CarGo" sign-up card on the homepage is generating 60,583 dead clicks on the parent card and 52,838 dead clicks on the "Sign Up" word itself this week alone. Two orders of magnitude larger than the next signal. Users are clicking text styled like an action — and nothing is happening.

Page load time regressed from 3.7s to 18.2s week-over-week. That's the second headline. Could be data quality (small sample on slow pages) or a real performance regression worth a separate engineering investigation.

Friction-clicker counts dropped, but so did total users. Per-user friction rates held roughly steady. Net: no improvement, less traffic.

Traffic, performance, and engagement

Site-wide measurements covering all three CarGo properties (cargorentalsfs.com, cargomerch.myshopify.com, catformalwear.myshopify.com). All comparisons are this-week (TW: Apr 20–26) vs last-week (LW: Apr 13–19), Mon–Sun.

Page Load regressed 388% WoW. TW averaged 18,168ms vs LW's 3,723ms. This is a 5× jump on the same metric definition — investigate as a possible CDN, asset, or third-party regression. Could also reflect a sampling artifact on a small number of slow sessions; correlate with session count by URL before concluding.

Site-wide friction counts

Unique users who experienced each friction event type, anywhere on the site, in each week. Read these in the context of total user count — a drop in raw count means little if traffic dropped proportionally.

Apparent friction improvement is a traffic effect, not a UX win. Rage Clickers fell 58.1% and Error Clickers fell 56.7% — but Total Users fell 15.7% and the friction-per-user rate held roughly steady (rage: 0.87% TW vs 1.76% LW; error: 0.31% TW vs 0.60% LW). Reset expectations before reporting "friction down."

Top elements driving friction

Each row is a distinct element (grouped by visible text) where users rage-clicked, error-clicked, or dead-clicked. Δ column shows week-over-week change; "new" means the element wasn't in last week's top 25; "gone" means it was last week but not this week.

Session evidence step skipped this run. The skill's session-investigation subagent (fullstory:session-context) was unavailable in this environment. The next run should pull 3 sessions per top hotspot via get_sessions(metric_id, limit=3) and delegate per-session narrative to the subagent. Findings would be inlined as one-line takeaways under each hotspot row.

Three things to fix this week

Ranked by user impact and ease of resolution. Each links to the underlying Fullstory metric for verification.

P1

Make the "Sign Up" / "Join CarGo" surface a real button

Combined volume across both row variants: 113,421 dead clicks this week — 99.8% of all dead clicks on the site. Users see an action-styled card and click; nothing happens. Either wire the entire card to onClick → /signup, or visually de-emphasize it so users stop reading it as a CTA.

P1

Investigate the +388% page-load regression

TW avg 18.2s vs LW 3.7s, same metric definition both weeks. Likely candidates: a slow new third-party tag, a CDN issue, or a sampling artifact from a small number of pathological sessions. Slice by URL_PATH and by browser to isolate.

P2

Fix the "Add to cart" JS error

122 error clicks this week on elements labeled "Add to cart" — almost certainly on cargomerch.myshopify.com or catformalwear.myshopify.com. A single bug fix could clear the entire error-click signal on this site.

P3

Audit the "Available" status badge for clickability

Top rage-click target both weeks (1,418 TW, 2,971 LW). Users are clicking a status word on a car listing expecting it to start the booking flow. Either make it a real CTA or remove it from the click target hierarchy. The price-amount pattern ("$1200", "$180", etc.) directly underneath shows the same behavior — users click prices expecting action.

Defects and skips in this run

The skill validates the input manifest (cargo/metrics.json) before computing. Metrics with definitional defects, duplicates, or translation issues are surfaced here rather than silently dropped.

6 of 19 metrics in the source manifest were skipped or repaired due to defects in the saved definitions or in the build_metric NL→definition translator. Below is the audit.
